Biografilm Academy

Room with a View is an Erasmus+ project carried out by Biografilm in collaboration with Archilabò and the Dutch organizations ClickF1 and KOPA. The project was funded by the European Union and supported by the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Metropolitan City of Bologna, the Municipality of Bologna, and the Reno Galliera Union.

A group of secondary school students, aged between 15 and 19, from Utrecht (The Netherlands) and Bologna (Italy)—specifically from Istituto Keynes in Castel Maggiore (BO) and Istituto Scappi in Castel San Pietro Terme (BO)—took part in a series of in-class workshops. Under the guidance of several artists in each country—Cristina Portolano and Chiara Trivelli for Italy—students reinterpreted European values from a personal and active citizenship perspective, using a variety of artistic techniques.

The outcome of the project consists of two parallel exhibitions: one inaugurated in Utrecht in November 2025, and one held at Biblioteca Salaborsa in Bologna in January 2026.

The exhibition Room With A View – What is the Europe you would like? took place at Biblioteca Salaborsa from 21 to 27 January 2026, featuring an opening event, activities, and guided tours for visiting school groups.

The exhibition was conceived as a collective representation of the concept of hospitality, explored by students as both a personal and shared response to the question: “What is the Europe you would like?” The participating classes invited the public to reflect on which actions make—or do not make—a person feel at home.

For this reason, the artworks were arranged within a symbolic living room, a domestic space that hosted personal experiences translated into images, illustrations, and audiovisual content, developed through the techniques learned during the participatory workshops led by the curating artists.

This resulted in an active dialogue with visitors moving through the exhibition space, with the aim of triggering a virtuous cycle of reflection and concrete actions of solidarity.

• To teach vocational school students autonomy and creative freedom in expressing their perspectives on citizenship through artistic media.
• To improve students’ digital skills and competences.
• To support the development of identity, citizenship, and European values among vocational school students.
• To foster partnerships between European schools.
• To promote the exchange of best practices among teachers from different regions and countries.
